Why Sollys?

When I began envisioning this practice, I wanted a name that felt both personal and purposeful. The word Sollys (pronounced sol-lüss) is the Danish word for sunlight, and it holds a special significance. The name is a tribute to my husband’s Danish roots. In Denmark, where winters can be long and dark, light is never taken for granted. It is celebrated, sought out, and deeply cherished.

I believe that wellness is much like sunlight. It provides clarity, offers warm, and signals a new start. There is something inherently grounding and healing about the sun. It reminds us to slow down, breathe, and feel the warmth on our skin.

At Sollys Counselling and Wellness, my goal is to help you find that inner "sollys”. The steady, grounding light that fosters growth and provides comfort during difficult seasons.

Individuals & Families

I work with individuals across the life span, including children 3+. I support a variety of presenting concerns such as anxiety, life transitions, self-harm, suicidal ideation and more. My area of focus is working with first responders, and providing play therapy for children. I provide family counselling between children and caregivers. I am not providing relationship counselling at this time.

Relational & Somatic

I believe the most important aspect of our time together is our therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a feeling safety, ease and trust. In sessions, I bring gentleness, shared laughter, and collaboration. I also draw on emotion focused and somatic practices. I will encourage you to get curious about sensations and how emotions present themselves in your physical body.
